Submit a Trivia Appeal
At the Trivia Fairness Association (TFA), we are committed to preserving the integrity, accuracy, and competitive spirit of organized trivia. Whether it is a disputed answer, questionable scoring, or alleged violations of trivia conduct, the TFA provides a formal channel to ensure every voice is heard and every fact is verified.
This appeal form is designed for players, teams, and hosts to submit concerns regarding trivia rulings or incidents. All submissions are reviewed by the TFA's governing council, who evaluate each case using established fairness standards, historical precedent, and, when necessary, deep, obsessive fact-checking.
Use this form to report:
- Incorrect or disputed answers
- Scoring discrepancies or tabulation errors
- Violations of "no table talk" or other gameplay rules
- Host bias or procedural inconsistencies
- Suspected use of outside assistance or cheating
What to expect:
Due to the thorough and methodical nature of TFA investigations, most cases are resolved within 90 to 180 days from the date of submission.
While some straightforward disputes may be addressed more quickly, more complex or high-profile cases, especially those involving:
- Multiple teams or conflicting accounts
- Historical precedent or previously ruled questions
- Extensive evidence review or expert consultation
may require the full duration to ensure a fair and accurate outcome.
During this period, your case may move through multiple phases of review, deliberation, and documentation. The TFA prioritizes precision over speed, recognizing that today's ruling may become a guiding precedent for future cases.
A Note on Publication Timing
As part of the TFA's commitment to transparency, cases are not only reviewed but carefully documented for publication. This includes drafting official summaries, compiling evidence narratives, and preparing the case for inclusion in the TFA Case Archive.
As such, additional time may be required to ensure that each case is presented clearly, accurately, and in a manner consistent with TFA historical records.
Why It Takes Time
Every appeal contributes to the evolving body of trivia law. The TFA does not simply resolve disputes, it builds precedent, preserves fairness, and occasionally settles debates that may echo across trivia nights for years to come.
Important Notes:
- Appeals must be submitted within 48 hours of the incident
- Submissions should be detailed, factual, and free of personal attacks
- Frivolous or repeat complaints may be subject to review penalties
Because in trivia, every point matters and so does fairness.
