Have the Topics for the 2026 Fall Southeast Convention Been Announced?

Started by NewAdmin2026 | 31 replies

This will be my first TFA Fall Southeast Convention and I'm excited to attend.

Have the breakout session topics been announced yet? I saw registration opened but I haven't seen a detailed agenda posted anywhere.

Thanks!

The full 2026 Fall Southeast Convention Program was distributed to all certified administrators last week.

Check your email.

I did.

I may have missed it.

The subject line was literally:

TFA 2026 Fall Southeast Convention Program & Session Guide

Not sure how much clearer they could have made it.

Strong "per my previous email" energy here.

To be fair, the email was about 87 pages long.

It's easy to miss things.

Found it.

Thank you.

Also wow, there are a lot more sessions than I expected.

I'm really looking forward to this year's focus on fairness, accessibility, and DEI initiatives.

The breakout sessions look excellent.

The one I'm most excited about is:

Building Inclusive Trivia Spaces: Fairness Beyond the Score Sheet

Same.

I'm also planning to attend:

Accessibility Standards for Modern Trivia Events

and

Reducing Unintentional Bias in Question Writing

Both look incredibly relevant.

The DEI programming team has been working on these sessions for nearly a year.

The presenter lineup is outstanding.

The Southeast Convention has become one of the TFA's strongest professional development events.

I'm excited about:

Historical Fairness Lessons from a Century of Trivia Administration

It's probably the most TFA title ever created.

As someone who organizes community events, I'm especially interested in the food accessibility and dietary inclusion workshop.

Glad to see that topic included.

One thing I've always appreciated about TFA conventions is that fairness isn't treated as just a competition issue.

It's discussed as a community issue too.

Anyone else excited for the keynote?

Absolutely.

Debra Searle is a fantastic choice.

Her story is incredible.

The themes of resilience, perseverance, and leadership fit perfectly with the convention's focus on fairness and personal growth.

I heard Debra speak several years ago.

She's engaging, funny, and inspiring.

Very excited to hear her perspective.

I'm looking forward to seeing how she connects resilience and adaptability to trivia administration.

That's not a joke.

Administrators deal with some truly wild situations.

I'm excited for everything except maybe the venue.

Has anyone looked at reviews of the Tampa Convention Center?

Some of them are rough.

I saw one that complained about parking.

Parking was the main thing I noticed too.

One review claimed it could take over an hour to find parking during major events.

Hopefully the convention organizers have worked something out.

My concern is actually food.

Several reviews mentioned limited vegetarian options.

As someone who doesn't eat meat, that's a little disappointing.

Convention center food is almost always expensive.

That's unfortunately pretty standard.

The location itself looks beautiful though.

Being on the waterfront should make for a nice setting between sessions.

One of the more colorful reviews I found described:

difficult parking, unfriendly staff, expensive food, and limited vegetarian choices.

Hopefully the experience during the convention is better than that review suggests.

I've attended events there before.

The building itself is great.

The biggest issue was navigating parking during peak convention hours.

Every convention forum eventually becomes a discussion about parking.

It's one of the great traditions of professional organizations.

Historically speaking, complaints about parking first appear in TFA archives sometime around 1963.

The wording has remained largely unchanged ever since.

Future historians will discover thousands of pages documenting:

* Fairness

* Integrity

* Accessibility

* DEI

* Parking

The convention planning committee has indicated that additional transportation guidance, recommended parking facilities, and nearby dining options will be distributed before the event.

I would encourage attendees not to panic based solely on online reviews.

Good to hear.

I'm still more excited than concerned.

The session lineup looks fantastic.

Same.

Between the fairness workshops, DEI programming, accessibility sessions, historical panels, and Debra Searle's keynote, this may be the strongest Fall Southeast Convention agenda I've seen in years.

Moderator Note

The agenda for the 2026 TFA Fall Southeast Convention (Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, Florida) has been released and is available through the Administrator Portal.

Discussion of sessions, speakers, accessibility programming, travel logistics, and venue experiences is encouraged.

Please remember that individual online reviews represent personal experiences and may not reflect every attendee's experience.

We look forward to welcoming attendees from across the Southeast region this fall.
